Frank Shipley came to this area from Kansas as a result
of agents from the Uinta County Irrigation Project
in order to homestead on Muddy. When it was discovered the canal
didn't provide enough water to raise crops, he started a brick kiln and
also made concrete blocks. Later he worked as a contractor and as
janitor for the schools, living the rest of his life here. After
his wife passed away, he married a widow, Mrs. Howerton, and they bought
the O'Neil home presently owned by Dave Sanders.
