Coach Joel Eskelsen Comments:
Again a tough loss after playing a great game against #1 ranked
team. Both the offense and the defense played hard and well. A
few miscues and lack of passing spelled doom by the game’s
end. The Punchers have proven to themselves that they can compete
with the best in the state. We just need to take that next step
and win against these teams. As the Punchers finish their regular
season next Thursday, they need to be perfecting those little things
that have hurt us all year.
Defensively, the Punchers limited Mt. View’s impressive
running attack to 121 yards. They Buffalos were impressive through
the air, hitting on 6 of 10 passes. Their passing efficiency was
probably the difference of the game. The defense was led by linebackers
Linn and Wilson who each were in on over 10 tackles. Defensive
backs Greenwood and Moffat also had good games.
Offensively, the Punchers ran the ball very hard and we were
able to sustain good drives and give ourselves opportunities to
score. We have to take better advantages of those opportunities.
Seth Linn led the running with 101 yards. Greenwood carried the
ball 18 times for 62 yards in some early hard running.
Big Piney will honor its seniors this Thursday in a game against
Saratoga. Game time is 3:30. The Punchers will need to play inspired
football against the 4-3 Panthers and hopefully establish a balanced
offense to help their already good game on the defensive side of
the ball.
A win will be an important moral boost for the Punchers as they
enter a play-off picture that could prove interesting as they progress.
